Q: What's involved in upgrading from an earlier version, or from QuickBooks for Windows or Quicken? A: Upgrading from an earlier version of QuickBooks Pro for Mac is easy. You can automatically transfer data from QuickBooks Pro 2006, 2005, 6.0, 5.0 or 4.0 (M12) for Mac. You can also easily convert your data from QuickBooks for Windows 2007. If converting from QuickBooks for Windows, you'll need to save a copy your QuickBooks backup file (.QBB file) to a CD, USB drive or other storage device to transfer the file to the Mac. Then simply open the file on QuickBooks Pro 2007 for Mac. To convert your data from Quicken Mac (versions 2007, 2006 and 2005), you first import your Quicken data file and then walk through a quick, automated conversion process.
Q: Why is it important to upgrade? A: Upgrading now will give you the enhanced power of QuickBooks 2007, which is simpler to use so you can do more and do it faster. If you're using version 6.0 (released in late 2003) of QuickBooks for Mac or 2004 or prior version of QuickBooks for Windows, we recommend that you upgrade now. As of May 31, 2007, QuickBooks 6.0 for Mac will be retired, and live technical support and add-on business services will be discontinued.

Older versions of QuickBooks for Windows have already been retired, as have QuickBooks Pro 5.0 and prior versions for Mac.
